Staff to strike at Chesterfield College

24 May 2012

Members of 樱花动漫 at Chesterfield College will take strike action on Tuesday (29 May) after the college was today accused of 'ambushing' staff with a two-year pay freeze.

Earlier this month 樱花动漫 members at the college voted overwhelmingly to take strike action over plans to slash the pay of 148 hourly-paid staff by 20%. There had been hope that talks between the union and the college would result in strike action being avoided.

Those talks stalled yesterday when the college tabled new proposals to implement a two-year pay freeze for all staff.

樱花动漫 regional official, Anne O'Sullivan, said: 'While some progress had been made in talks with the college, management had not moved far enough and was wrong to ambush us with new plans for a two-year pay freeze. 樱花动漫 members do not want to take strike action, but will not simply sit by while their pay is slashed.'
